the jbt story
Jolie-Beth McWhirter is the founder of JBT and is currently a private singing teacher, acting coach, confidence booster, and a supporter of local theatre in the Dallas / Fort Worth area.
JBT started one day when a simple phone conversation with a friend took place. Her friend explained to Jolie-Beth that her daughter had a pretty voice but was too afraid to sing out loud. Jolie-Beth suggested that she could help. Just like that, JBT was born! That, of course, is the short story.
Over time, Jolie-Beth Talent received positive reviews and word got around. More students came. They began to realize their full potential, aced their auditions, and got cast. They felt their voice improve in just one lesson and grow more mature over time. Now, JBT is a thriving place to learn, grow, and experience the love of singing, acting, and performing.
Build it and they will come! That's what they say!
Jolie-Beth McWhirter began her professional acting and singing career at the age of five performing for conventions and business meetings. At the age of eight, she was accepted in the Central Illinois Children's Chorus as one of the choir's youngest members. Jolie-Beth also studied dance for seven years mostly in modern dance and jazz. From there, Jolie-Beth hit the stage and landed major roles in several musicals performed through out the Dallas / Fort Worth area, was a lead singer in a band for several years, and walked the runway in fashion shows at Market Hall in Dallas, Texas.
Jolie-Beth McWhirter also has experience behind the camera. While attending the University of North Texas, she worked as a model and actress for Elite Model Management for two and a half years. Back then, you may have seen Jolie-Beth in clothing advertisements, acting in small roles in a popular TV series at the time, and several commercials. If you didn't blink, you may have even seen Jolie-Beth in a country music video shot in Nashville, Tennessee.
Jolie-Beth McWhirter uses her forty plus years of experience in the industry and the incredible training she received from so many talented teachers to give back this experience and the joy of performing to others. Jolie-Beth believes that if one is given a gift, it is meant to be shared and the desire to share this gift with others is most treasured and coveted.
Jolie-Beth's main passion for her students is joy, proper technique, confidence, and creative freedom. Her belief in hard work over the long haul, Classical Training, having fun, and growing a humble confidence is evident in Jolie's approach in teaching her students to shine their own unique light. What separates JBT from the others is that she is relatable, fun, and takes the time to truly develop each of her students individual attributes. She does not believe in the "one size fits all" or "conveyor belt" approach to teaching. Jolie-Beth's attention to students does not end once the lesson is over and she purposely keeps the number of students she teaches low for this very reason.
In conclusion, Jolie-Beth Talent cares, encourages students to know themselves, to be authentic, transparent, to believe in themselves, and to softly… be brave and courageous.
